Bits and Pieces

For the past few nights, I've dreamt in Chinese. Interesting.

I saw this on the way home from work today:

Seeing the kitties made me miss mine so much that it made my heart hurt a little. I miss my babies.

I'm officially a failure at one of the things I promised myself I would do here... I refused to take part in the eating of the silkworms. I said I would try every strange food placed before me. I should have specified that creepy-crawlies are excluded! UGH!

Don't worry, Zoe misses her mommy lots too. Have you seen the picture I put up on Myspace of her sleeping? She has taken to chasing her tail and invisible mice these days. It is highly entertaining for me, but I sometimes feel bad for getting such enjoyment out of her obvious hallucinations. I swear I only gave her catnip a.k.a. "X for kitties" once!

As for the silk worms, I have a journal that is made to replicate the look of 16th century silk from them, and personally I think they serve a much better purpose as fashionistas than food. Double Ughhh from me!

I heard an interview on NPR with a woman who came to the US as a refugee. Her family was awoken in the night and forced from their home because it was decided they were traitors to their country. She had a fascinating tale to tell and she said that when she began to dream in English she felt truly American. So I guess you're Chinese now.
